Episode 1: Mother's Day
Updated: May 26

Hello and welcome. My name is Olumide Evelyn Moronfolu, and today, I’m both honored and excited to share two special milestones with you: the formal launch of my ebook, Not At Their Funeral, and the beginning of The Little Drops Devotionals—a new home for our readers to find God in every moment.
Not At Their Funeral is rooted in biblical truth and anchored in real, human stories. This book confronts one of the most quietly devastating patterns of our generation: adult children who pour their hearts and savings into grand, elaborate funerals — while the parents they are burying spent their final years waiting for a phone call that never came.
It is a book about love — about the parents who gave us everything and the children who keep telling themselves there will be more time. More time to call. More time to visit. More time to say the things that matter most. More time to forgive. More time to love.
It is not a book about death. It is a book about choosing to love — urgently, intentionally, and now. Written with grace and warmth, Not At Their Funeral is a gentle but urgent plea: stop waiting. The dead do not need flowers. They need you when they are alive.
We’re launching this book just as Mother’s Day approaches—a time of gratitude, remembrance, and, sometimes, bittersweet reflection. For many, Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate and give thanks. For others, it’s a day that brings a quiet ache for mothers or mother-figures who are far away, or for words we wish we’d shared.
This Mother’s Day, I encourage you to connect with your mother, grandmother, or any mother figure in your life. Besides giving her flowers (because let’s face it, she probably has enough vases to start a small museum), ask her specifically what she would like for this Mother's Day. And if possible, fulfill her wish! This time, give her the gift she truly desires—unless she asks for a pet tarantula, in which case, maybe you can get her a nice pair of slippers instead.
If your mother is no longer with you, consider honoring her with a simple ritual. You could cook her favorite meal (just try not to burn it—she wouldn’t want you to set off the smoke alarm in her memory). Alternatively, plant a flower in her memory, or take a quiet walk while reflecting on her life. These small acts can be powerful, helping us heal and keep our loved ones close, even across distance and time. Remember, it’s the thought that counts—and she’d probably appreciate a good laugh from beyond the grave!
In this first book, I wrote a tribute to my parents, Retired Major and Mrs. Olabiyi, whose sacrifices and devotion have been the foundation of my life. If you’ll allow me, I’d like to share it with you:
"To my dearest parents, Retired Major and Mrs. Olabiyi—your steadfast sacrifice and devotion have been the foundation of our lives, guiding my siblings and me from childhood into the complexities of adulthood.
Dad, I remember how, despite your service as an army officer in Nigeria, we often had less than others, yet your love and daily sacrifices never wavered. You gave your all, working tirelessly and quietly enduring every hardship for our sake. Your determination and your gift saw us all through college, a gift whose value words cannot truly capture.
And Mom, though you had little formal education, you became the heart and steward of our home, stretching every resource with wisdom and making sure we always had enough.
Dearest Mother, the way you stood by me at the dawn of my career, giving more than was ever expected, especially during Nkuho Uman (postpartum care). You gave me the strength and stability I needed to grow in my career. Your love is a blessing I carry with me always.
My heart swells with gratitude and love—for you and Dad have both shaped our lives with unwavering devotion, and together with my siblings, I am forever thankful for the grace and strength you have given us.
You are both extraordinary parents, and I pray that you will always flourish, standing tall and beautiful like palm trees and strong cedars in Lebanon. I pray our heavenly father will hold you close through your old age and gray hairs. His arms will cradle you when your strength wanes, and He will be your unshakeable rock and everlasting support."
Sharing these words with my parents was deeply meaningful. It reminded me that it’s never too late to express our love, gratitude, or even our regrets. That’s what Not At Their Funeral is about—honoring the moments that matter, whether we’re able to share them face-to-face or hold them in our hearts. I hope this book inspires you to reach out, to remember, and to celebrate the mothers and parents who have touched your life.
Thank you for letting me share this new chapter with you. Not At Their Funeral is now available, and The Life Lens Project Devotionals is now open to you—your stories, your reflections, your heart. Together, let’s honor the moments that truly matter. Great job preparing for Mother’s Day!
